HID Xenon lamps do not have a filament. Instead the light is created by an electrical discharge between two electrodes in an air tight tiny quartz capsule filled with xenon gas, mercury and metal halide salts.
These light sources also produce a blue-white light that is safer than normal halogen bulbs because it produces a colour closer to natural daylight.
The increased light output from a 35w HID kit is approximately 80% more than you get from a 55w halogen bulb. The HID xenon systems also draw less power from your vehicles electrical system.
